Approaching Valentine

Another starless night, another moment of being love struck. With Valentine around the corner, it is the perfect time to fantasize on one’s love life – Emma’s not an exception.

Love – an ancient feeling that carved smiles for millenniums. Love made miracles. It is the joy of Life, weaved in every direction for without it, one has failed to live Life. Even the coldest of hearts had at least loved once. Even the cruellest of hearts had loved another. Even when one only thinks of his own self, he has loved (himself, yes). And how wondrous it is to celebrate this very feeling!

Emma was certainly optimistic about love. She loves to love. As she tapped on the keyboard her mind could only think of Caine. Ah, the guy of her dreams… Oh how she long to hug him, to express her affection; she was indeed one girl madly in love. She had laughed at herself whenever she thought of him. She had smiled and blushed at the mention of his name. She was flattered when he smiled in return, mesmerized when he spoke. Call her crazy, whatever you may. The truth was simpler than any other reason – she’s in love.

Meanwhile, the Guardians were watching. They looked at each other while Emma had her headphone on. She seemed darn happy as she wrote her blog.

“Hey Gabe, you seeing what I’m seeing? Is it me or did someone bewitched her?” Luc was as confused as he could ever be. And so was Gabriel.

“I…I don’t know, Luc,” he replied. His eyes were fixed on his lady. She was radiant. She’s darn cute when she’s happy, like a little child who knows nothing of the cruel world, like a child her smile beamed with sincerity. It was a face she had never shown to the world. It was real. She wasn’t faking it.

They approached her. Gabriel laid his hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him. Her eyes were shouting her thoughts. It was clear to Gabriel, although Luc was still clueless.

“Caine, I presume?” Gabriel whispered, smiling.

“Oh Gabe, what’s happening to me? I’m feeling the butterflies inside! I feel…I feel – I feel as if there’s nothing in this world that could ever go wrong!” Emma replied as she blushed. “I’m hearing my own heartbeat… It’s warm inside me.”

“And Ryan?” Gabriel asked.

“I haven’t forgotten him…I’m glad I met him. He’s the nicest guy I’ve known. I love him too!”

“You should be grateful, milady…”

“I am. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord for his blessings upon me.”

“Err, milady, if you will excuse me for a while…”

“Sure, you may go.”

“Thank you.”

Gabriel took leave only to head over to Luc and the N, who were waiting outside the computer room. They were waiting for Gabriel, impatient. The smile on his face baffled them more.

“So what’s it about?” The N was just as curious as Luc was.

“Ah, my dear friend, have you ever felt sweet tingling within you? Do you see the world as a wonderful place to live in? Do you hear music with each passing second? Cause Emma does. That girl is one girl, madly, deeply in love,” Gabriel said to them.

“She must really love the guy then…” The N rolled his eyes at Emma. She’s got the headphone on, she’s glued to the screen and smiling, he thought, that’s some love she has for him. All of a sudden the N felt a gush of feelings. Suddenly he could understand what Gabriel meant. He was not in the mood of giving sarcastic remarks.

“You do realize now that she is a person of her own, N? That I didn’t lag behind for nothing?”

Sensing the Guardian’s teasing tone, the N nodded. Emma was vulnerable when she was in love. Now he knew why Gabriel stayed with her. It was not an easy choice. Humans. He couldn’t stop smiling. Luc was still clueless but at the sight of his brother and the N, the information gradually seeped into him.

Heaving a heavy sigh, he said, “We should leave her for now. Let her fly in her thoughts. She deserves it.” The trio then left Emma blogging on her computer desk.

The night wind blew gracefully, humming a melodious tune among the trees. The leaves rustled in harmony. A peaceful night for them. Slowly the dark clouds gave way to a luminous moon.

The girl fell in love again and again with the same guy.

The Guardians gave her a moment of her own.

The world revolved on.

Love was around the corner.
